A Day Of Action
The world has continued to protest in the name of Breonna Taylor. By now the world knows that Louisville police officers served a no-knock warrant on the wrong house, subsequently murdering Breonna Taylor. This incident took place back in March, and Breonna’s murders still haven’t been arrested or charged. Since the world has found out about Breonna’s murder, protesters have spent almost every day letting their voices be heard. Kentucky’s Attorney General, Daniel Cameron, has seemingly talked about everything outside of pressing charges against the officers.
Yesterday Louisville had an “A Day of Action”. This day of action was a part of a four-day event that was called BreonnaCon. It was organized by the social justice organization until the freedom to demand justice for Taylor. Over 60 protesters were arrested during this protest. Among the 60 arrested were rappers Trae the Truth, YBN Cordae, Atlanta Housewives star Porsha Williams, and Love and Hip-Hop star Yandy Smith.
While all this was going on in Lousiville, Daniel Cameron was in North Carolina at the 2020 Republican National Convention. During his speech, Cameron mentioned Breonna’s name. “We Republicans do recognize those who work in good faith towards peace, justice, and equality”. He went on to say “in fact, it was General Dwight Eisenhower who said democracy is a system that recognizes the equality of humans before the law. Whether you are the family of Breonna Taylor or David Dorn, these are the ideals that will heal our nation’s wounds”.
The fact remains that Cameron has the power to do much more than just mention her name in a speech. Protesters won’t be satisfied until charges are pressed. Hopefully, the Taylor family won’t have to wait too much longer for the justice they deserve.
